QAlchemy
This Privacy Policy explains what data QAlchemy, a local-first desktop application, handles and how.
1. Local-first by design
QAlchemy is a desktop workspace, not a cloud service. Your requirements, generated test suites, execution runs, and evidence attachments are stored in a local workspace on your own device. QAlchemy does not upload this data to any server it operates.
2. What is sent to your AI provider
When you use Generate, the requirement text and acceptance criteria you enter are sent directly from the desktop app to the AI provider you have configured (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or a self-hosted Ollama instance), using your own API key. That provider processes the request under its own privacy policy. QAlchemy does not intercept, log, or retain copies of this traffic beyond what's needed to display the response to you locally.
3. Provider API keys
Your AI provider API key is stored locally on your device using secure OS-level storage. It is used only to authenticate requests to the provider you selected and is never transmitted anywhere else.
4. QA Toolbox utilities
The offline utilities in the QA Toolbox (JSON formatter, regex tester, JWT decoder, media compressor, generators, and more) run entirely on your device and make no network requests.
5. Evidence Vault attachments
Screenshots, recordings, and documents you attach in the Evidence Vault are stored alongside your other local workspace data. They are not shared with any AI provider unless you explicitly attach them to a Generate request.
6. Backups
Workspace backups are created and stored wherever you choose on your own device. Backups never include your AI provider API keys.
7. Analytics
QAlchemy does not collect or transmit usage analytics from your workspace.
8. Data retention and deletion
Since your workspace lives locally, you control it entirely. Delete it at any time from the app's settings, or by removing the underlying workspace files directly.
9. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
