Why I built it

Writing thorough test coverage is slow, repetitive, and easy to under-scope when a deadline is close. Most AI tools that promise to help either lock your data into someone else's cloud, or hand back a wall of text you still have to restructure into anything usable.

QAlchemy takes a narrower, more useful position. It turns a requirement into a complete, structured QA analysis: summary, business rules, risk assessment, scenarios, detailed cases, and a traceability matrix. Then it lets you actually run that suite, track results, and keep the evidence, all from one local workspace.

Every generated case is a starting point you can edit, not a final answer you have to accept. The AI drafts; you stay the QA engineer.

What It's Built On

Principles the product is built around

Local-first, always

Your requirements, suites, runs, and evidence live on your machine. QAlchemy is a workspace you own, not a service you rent.

Your AI, your choice

Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, or a fully offline Ollama server, QAlchemy never locks you into a single provider.

AI drafts, you decide

Generated coverage is always editable before it ships, executes, or exports. Nothing is final until you say so.

Evidence, not just checkboxes

A completed test run should be defensible. That's why execution tracking and the Evidence Vault exist alongside generation.

Speak your team's format

Excel, Azure DevOps, Jira/Xray, TestRail, Markdown, CSV, JSON, or a PDF test plan, QAlchemy adapts to your pipeline instead of the other way around.

Nothing held hostage

Backup and restore your workspace on demand. Your data is never something you have to ask permission to keep.

Support

Help keep QAlchemy independent

QAlchemy is built and maintained independently. If it saves you time, consider supporting its development on Ko-fi.
